EDUCATION PROGRAMS at a glance

Discovery Room (kindergarten - grade 2)
A dedicated inquiry-based space full of stimulating and educational artifacts, puppets, puzzles & dress-up costumes for young learners to explore! We rotate themes so your class can return for up to four different experiences.

Interpretive Programs (Grades 1 - 12)
Students participate in a 1-2 hour program led by a Museum Educator in one of our exhibit galleries. Students explore hands-on objects, exhibits and interact with our dynamic and knowledgeable Museum Educator.

Self-Conducted Programs
Inquiry-based workbooks guide your students through our galleries, encouraging them to slow down, observe and respond to the exhibits. Available in FRENCH and ENGLISH.

Guided Tours (Grades 7 - 12)
Students are led on an interactive tour of one of our permanent exhibits by one of our Museum Educators - available in 'Wild Alberta' and the 'Gallery of Aboriginal Culture'.

Edukits (Grades 1 - 4)
These travelling kits let you bring some of the Museum into your classroom; kits come with hands-on objects, images and information for students & teachers. Edukits must be picked up and returned to the Museum.

Museum School (Grades 2 - 12)
This immersive week-long program gives your students a unique opportunity to explore and learn as you use the Museum as your classroom!

Distance Learning
Bring the Royal Alberta Museum into your classroom via a live and interactive videoconference with one of our dynamic Educators; featuring outstanding objects from our collections, videos of our collections, curators and incredible custom visuals and animations.
