Munching Machine

The Beaver is the largest rodent in North America. Adult Beavers can weigh up to 40 kg, which is more than the average Golden Retriever!

Beavers eat bark, wood, leaves and roots of deciduous trees and shrubs, as well as aquatic plants. Like those of all rodents, the Beaver’s incisor teeth grow continuously throughout its lifetime. By gnawing on hard food, a Beaver keeps its teeth worn down. Otherwise its teeth would grow too long and the Beaver would eventually starve.
