Over the years, the Royal Alberta Museum has presented many exciting exhibits: travelling exhibits, blockbuster exhibitions, and presentations and displays that highlighted Museum collections, research, and projects by Museum staff. Kid Stuff: Great Toys from Our Childhood October 22 2005 to January 9 2006
Kid Stuff took a nostalgic look at dozens of classic toys
from the 1950s and '60s that have entertained and captivated children for decades:
Mr. Potato Head, Barbie, GI Joe, the Easy-Bake Oven, Hot Wheels,
the Slinky and many more. Beyond the display of vintage toys,
Kid Stuff featured interactive, hands-on activities for kids of
all ages. Visitors had the chance to make new memories with classic
toys and games like Twister, Etch-A-Sketches, View Masters
and the Nerf Ball.

Remembrance Day 2005 November 1 to 30 2005 in the Museum's Front Lobby
In this official Year of the Veteran, visitors could take an opportunity to
commemorate, celebrate and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of thousands of
Canadians during the Second World War. Visitors heard the voices of some of those Albertans
who served during this era and learned of their different experiences and sacrifices.

Alberta Communities: Then and Now August 13 to November 13 2005
All of our communities, large and small, have stories of struggle and
success to share. This special Centennial exhibition explored individual
community experiences that capture what it has meant and means today to
live in Alberta. In the Orientation Gallery.

Alberta Celebrates! July 1 2005 to January 29 2006
Alberta had much to celebrate in its 100th year, beginning with Alberta's inauguration; the 50th, 60th and 75th anniversaries; several Royal Visits; Canada's Centennial in 1967; and several world-class sporting events. All of these celebrations left legacies for Albertans to enjoy for years to come. This colourful exhibition celebrated many of those legacies and included a glimpse into the future of the Royal Alberta Museum.

Alberta Centennial Sculpture Exhibition June 20 to September 25 2005
This year, the North Edmonton Sculpture Workshop (NESW) presents
its fourth annual exhibition on the Museum's front terrace. The Alberta
Centennial Sculpture Exhibition presents new directions in steel sculpture
by three emerging artists working at the NESW. With this exhibition, the NESW
seeks to increase public awareness and appreciation of local contemporary
sculpture while boosting the vitality of the local art community.

Erecting a Jeongia on the Museum grounds June to August 2005
A crew of builders skilled in traditional Korean construction techniques erected a pavilion called a Jeongia - a structure typically located on a site where humans and nature harmoniously converge - on the Museum's southeast lawns. By using traditional joinery methods, the Jeongia illustrates how Korean architecture has integrated ecological perspectives into its nature-oriented vision of beauty.

Hoof Prints to Tank Tracks - 100 years of the South Alberta Light Horse May 7 to September 18 2005
Alberta and the South Alberta Light Horse Regiment jointly
celebrated their respective 100th birthdays with this multi-sensory
exhibition showcasing Alberta’s senior reserve unit’s
fascinating development and history, from 1885’s Northwest Rebellion
to today. The Regiment’s distinctly western origins, lineage and
evolution are intertwined with many of the people and places that have

C is for Chinook - An Alberta Alphabet May 19 to August 7 2005
Visitors took a look at the landscape, famous people and history of Alberta
through a series of delightful illustrations by Alberta artist Lorna Bennett.
Our Alberta - Alberta Photographic Society Exhibition April 9 to May 15 2005
This exhibition celebrated Alberta’s Centennial through a collection of photographs exploring the Alberta experience.
Back Home 2005: Paintings by Karen Brownlee January 14 to April 3 2005
Karen Brownlee's paintings reflect the love of the land and the enthusiastic effort of many farm pioneer families, including her own. Her paintings speak of the relevance and symbolism of people's historic relationship with the land. Related material in Royal Alberta Museum's web presentation:
