Jade Pendant
An exquisitely carved jade pendant with male and female deer, a swan and trees, from Aolimi Tomb, Suibin County. The subject matter is linked to the Jurchen emphasis on hunting, especially in the autumn. Emperor Shizong (reigned 1161-1189) encouraged a revival of Jurchen hunting practices because he saw a direct link with military skills.
