Iron Thorn

[Iron Thorn]

A tie ji li, or "iron thorn," from the Jin Dynasty tomb of Aolimi, Suibin County. In Europe such a weapon was known as a caltrop. No matter how it falls to the ground, it lands with a 3 cm spike up. Scattered around a camp or fortification, this simple weapon hindered the advance of enemy cavalry.
