 Palm Warbler
 Dendroica palmarum

Size 127mm Weight 10 g

 Description

The following traits are present in all plumages and include bright yellow undertail coverts, a finely streaked chestnut-coloured breast and a distinct facial pattern of a whitish supercilium and dark eyeline.
 Habitat
The Palm Warbler is unlike most wood-warblers, because it prefers breeding habitats that are open and unwooded. This is also one of very few species that takes advantage of black spruce bog environments.
 Song
One of only five boreal avian species that sings in a monotonous trill. This is represented by "zwee zwee zwee zwee zwee zwee zwee" or "sawee sawee sawee sawee sawee" will typically sung from within bushes.
 Similar Species
Prairie Warbler and the dull fall and winter Yellow-rumped "Myrtle" Warbler
 Comments
The Palm Warbler is generally a terrestrial bird that runs and hops along the ground with its tail continuously pumping in an up-down circular motion. The tail pumping behaviour is continual and typically occurs while foraging. The Palm Warbler is described as "gregarious" during the winter season and migration, where they are known to flock with Yellow-rumped and Pine Warblers.
