Donna M. Cherniawsky, M.Sc. (Plant Systematics), Assistant Curator of Botany
Donna joined the Royal Alberta Museum in 2000. Her interests include: systematics of vascular plants, particularly Petasites (Asteraceae), using morphology, cytology, ecology, breeding system, phytogeography, and molecular tools (enzymes and DNA) to assess the phenetic, genetic, and evolutionary relationships among populations and species; using this information for taxonomic applications as well as the conservation of genetic diversity and rare plant species; public education of Botany and the conservation of plant biodiversity in Alberta; herbarium management; historical botanical collections.
