Ice Age Anatomy

A curator at the Royal Alberta Museum uses calipers to measure part of a bison skull

What’s the difference between a mastodon and a mammoth tooth? How can you tell if a foot belongs to a bison or a horse? These deductive skills and many more are key for Palaeontologists as they piece together Alberta’s past.

Learn basic comparative anatomy and how to examine a skeleton like a palaeontologist from our museum experts. Get hands-on with Ice Age fossils and up-close with our frozen past.

This workshop is open to anyone aged 15+, with no previous experience necessary. All supplies are provided. General admission is included with your ticket, so come early to enjoy the museum.
