Museum Explorers runs from 9 am-4 pm. Early drop-off is from at 8:30-9 am and late pick up is between 4-4:30 pm. During pre- and post-program times, free-time table stations will be provided.
Early drop off begins at 8:30 am and late pickup will be until 4:30 pm, both at the East Entrance on 97 street. Please pull into the bus loop parking to enter the East Entrance. Please ensure you park off to the side so that you do not block service vehicles moving through.
If you are dropping off after 9 am on any day of your program, please communicate this to ACSW.RAMLearningTm@gov.ab.ca in advance. Activities from 9 am-4 pm will be held in various areas of the museum, so this communication ahead of time is very important. We are unable to accommodate late pick-up, so all kids must be picked up by 4:30 pm.
You will be sent a Museum Explorers Registration Form via email, which must be filled out in advance. Only people you have named as “authorized for pick up” on the Museum Explorers Registration Form may pick up your child.
Adults picking up children will have to show identification so that RAM staff can ensure they are on the Authorized Pick-Up List. If they are not on the list, RAM staff will contact the listed family members to confirm this person can pick up the child.
If you need to add or remove people from the pickup list, please email ACSW.RAMLearningTm@gov.ab.ca.
We ask that any children displaying cold, or flu-like symptoms stay home. Any child who begins to display these symptoms while at the museum will be isolated, and their families will be contacted to pick them up from the museum as soon as possible.
Museum Explorers is for everyone, and we try to make our programs as inclusive as possible. Regardless of cultural background, sensory needs, religious considerations, or gender expression, our staff will do their best to adjust programming and make accommodations for children who need them.
If your child’s experience would benefit from some program changes or adjustments, please reach out to us at ACSW.RAMLearningTm@gov.ab.ca in advance of the program’s start date.
We also encourage all families to fill out the Museum Explorers Registration Form outlining any behaviours or accommodations that staff should be aware of.
When registering for the program, you will be asked to complete a Museum Explorers Registration Form that outlines parent/guardian contact information, any medical needs, allergies, or behavioural information we need to be aware of. If there are any concerns that we cannot accommodate, we will be in touch with you quickly.
No, we are not a peanut-free facility.
Be prepared for each day with the proper gear. Please ensure that all gear is clearly labelled with the child’s name. Each day, please bring:
- A main lunch that does not need heating or refrigeration and at least two snacks.

- Indoor shoes
- We may go outside for games, so please be prepared for the weather with outdoor gear

We encourage children to dress in comfortable layers. The museum has various temperature settings in the gallery and program spaces fluctuating from chilly to warm. We strongly encourage leaving technology, money, or other valuable personal items at home. While belongings will be locked in the classroom space for the day, the Royal Alberta Museum is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen items.
At the end of the week, any items left behind will be taken to the RAM Admissions desk and put in the lost and found. If your child has left something behind, please check with Admissions staff to see if the item(s) is in the lost and found. You may email them at: ACSW.RAMAdmissions@gov.ab.ca.
Museum Explorers program discounts are limited to children named on Family, Youth, and Child Mammoth Passes.
