Bring the museum to your classroom with one of our curated Object Kit Rentals. Students get their hands on history through our specialized kits, to hit key concepts and spark the love of learning in all who encounter them. Educators have the freedom to create their own lesson plans and activities with these great collection resources or use the resources included in the kits!
What to know before you book
- Object Kits are booked for 10-day periods, from Thursday to the Sunday of the following week.
- Payment by credit card is required at time of booking.
- Any damage caused to the kit during the rental may result in the school or supervisor being held liable up to $125 and/or not being allowed to book another kit in the future.
- Late fees may apply if not returned by the last day of the booking.
- Object Kits must be picked up by the individual who booked (unless otherwise noted). Object Kits cannot be shipped.
We have transformed our popular Sustainable Societies guided program into an Object Kit for teachers and students to use in the classroom!
Through a cooperative play board game, students will build communities using the resources available to them. Students will understand the positive or negative impacts resource-use can create and be challenged to find balance between community growth and environmental sustainability.
This kit includes copies of the Sustainable Societies board game, related objects from RAM’s Learning Collection for hands-on learning and a selection of supporting activities for educators to use as they wish.
Available in both French and English.

The Arctic Object Kit is built on the foundations of Indigenous cultural content specific to the Northern communities in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Invoke and inspire appreciation for Canada's diverse communities. The Highlands United Church and the Edmonton Public School Board have been tremendous supporters of our Arctic Object Kit. Users of the kit will form a tangible connection to the Northern cultures and their history through hands-on materials such as miniature inuksuk, soapstone carvings, and much more!
Themed books, images, lesson plans and activity booklets are also included in this kit.

Trousse de l’Arctique
La trousse de l’Arctique s'appuie sur des éléments culturels autochtones propres aux communautés du Nord du Nunavut et des Territoires du Nord-Ouest. La trousse éducative vise à susciter et à inspirer l'admiration pour la diversité des communautés canadiennes. Un grand merci à l’appui de la Highlands United Church et Edmonton Public School pour leur collaboration dans la création de cette trousse. Les participants établiront un lien concret avec les cultures du Nord et leurs histoires grâce à des artéfacts et supports pratiques tels que des inuksuks miniatures, des sculptures en stéatite et bien plus encore !
Cette trousse inclus aussi des livres thématiques, des images, un livret d’activité et des plans de leçons.

Bring the rich and long history of the Métis to your classroom. This object kit provides samples of artwork, tools and activities to deepen student understanding of Métis relationship to the land. Created by Stephenie White, ISMI intern, this kit contains artifacts, tools, images and more! The goal is to introduce Métis culture, history and objects to foster discussions and reflections on Canadian history.
Themed books, images, lesson plans and activity booklets are also included in this kit.

Trousse Métis
Découvrez la richesse de l’histoire et des communautés Métis grâce à notre trousse éducative, créer par Stephenie White, lors de son stage (ISMI) ici au musée destiné aux étudiant.e.s autochtones . Cette trousse pédagogique propose une série d’objets et d’artéfacts, d’exemples d’œuvres d’art, des outils et des images présentant la culture métisse, leurs histoires et incitant des discussions et des réflexions sur l’histoire canadienne.
Cette trousse inclus aussi des livres thématiques, des images, un livret d’activité et des plans de leçons.

From furs to feet, skulls to teeth, RAM’s Learning Collection has a wide selection of natural specimens to help classes explore animals of Alberta and their adaptations. Use these specimens to help inform students of animal habitat, diet, behaviour, and more! Each kit comes with an assortment of 15-20 objects, object identification list, care and handling document.
